Transfer Student Information
The University of Maryland has its own transfer information website. This website was created for the sole purpose of providing prospective, newly admitted, and current transfers information on topics like choosing a major, understanding transfer credits, and financial resources.
Specific to the Clark School of Engineering, there is a transfer advising page that provides information regarding walk-in hours, contact information, and steps to declaring engineering as your major.
Campus Involvement
There are a ton of Campus clubs and societies, which is a great way to meet new people with similar backgrounds and/or interests. There is a great resource pages to help you get involved! The Clark School of Engineering has posted 30 different clubs and societies all of which relate to some form of Engineering.
Many UMD students will be familiar with OrgSync. However, UMD recently switched over to a new service called Terp Link. This website will provide you with information regarding all of the 800+ organizations on campus. Also there is a page for events happening on or near campus, so you can get involved and meet new people.
If this list seems overwhelming, many students will suggest coming to the First Look Fair, which is held at Mckeldin Mall every single year. It is a great event to see all of the active clubs/organization on campus. A piece of advice would be to try to attend all of the clubs’ first meetings that interest you and then drop the ones that you don’t like.
Lastly, another great resource for campus involvement is the Transfer & Off-Campus Student Life website. On this site, you can find information regarding upcoming events, contact information, and scholarships. A great resource they also provide is the Peer 2 Peer mentoring program, which is totally free and available Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5pm. This is a great way to get great direct information from an upper class transfer student on just about anything you want to talk about!

Financial Aid is by far the easiest type of aid to apply for: no essays and no letters of recommendations. All students of all income statuses should fill out the FAFSA, which only takes less than an hour. You can find more information on this, here.
Once you are admitted as a student here, you’ll receive an online bill, which can be viewed from this website. Just click “Access Account” and log in. Most of your expenses will be displayed on your bill by the end of July. You should pay the total balance on/before the due date posted on billpay website under important dates. There is a 1 month grace period, so if the Fall 2019 Semester Bill is due Aug. 20 than you have until Sept. 20 to pay your bill. Unless, you apply for the Terp Payment Plan, which is a monthly payment system. There is a 50$ or 75$ enrollment fee depending on whether you apply for 1 or 2 semesters.
